Scholarships

We are very excited to introduce a new scholarship program for our youth for the 2018 showing season. Any youth that is an active member of 4-H or FFA and is 8-18 years old will be eligible to apply for a scholarship that must be used towards the purchase of a show pig and or their supplies needed to raise their show pig. We strongly support and believe that 4-H and FFA are very educational to youth in our communities.

The hands-on learning experiences these children receive provide endless positive benefits for the success of their future. We ask that you please consider donating to our scholarship program to help kids with the cost of their show animal and supplies, which will provide an amazing hands-on learning experience.

There are three levels of scholarships that are available to an active member of 4-H or FFA . The levels are based on 4-H and FFA rank, community service hours, and experience in showing. Youth who wish to apply for a scholarship must submit an autobiography, completed application with an attached picture of themselves, and the community service form completed and signed by an approved staff member no later then January 15, 2018. Please note that Natrona County youth will have first priority followed by other Wyoming counties.

Meet our Scholarship Committee Members!

Brendi Jensen

I was born and raised in Arizona but have lived in Casper, Wyoming for the past 15 years.  My parents and siblings are originally from Nebraska so Husker blood runs deep within me! My husband and I have both been previously married so we are a blended family each with two children.  Our oldest is 19 years old and attends Culinary School in Jackson, Wy.  She will graduate this Spring with a double major in Culinary and Hotel/Restaurant Management. We have two sons ages 12 & 13 as well as a daughter that is 10.  Our 3 youngest children are all active members of the Bear Claws 4-H club.  My husband and I own and Operate Double Shoe Farm where we teach horse riding lessons to kids & adults, youth swine education classes, run a 25 Sow operation for bacon, hay, and much more! My husband also works for 33 mile Ranch here in Casper.  My passions are first being a wife and mother, teaching children, working with animals, fundraising for important causes, and helping anyone in need.  I am so excited to have started a Swine Scholarship Program to help more youth become involved in 4-H and FFA!

Jaime Carothers

I was born and raised in Minnesota.  Joined the Air Force after high school, and spent 8 wonderful years with the military and got to see the world!  The military also helped me receive 2 Associate degrees, as well as a Bachelors and finally an MBA with focus in Human Resource Management.  I am currently the Director of Human Resources at the largest nursing home in the State of Wyoming, Shepherd of the Valley.  I am married with a blended family, as my husband has two boys and I have two boys – so we stay busy! I do not have much experience in 4H, however, I am a huge animal lover, have owned horses in the past and currently 2 big furry dogs!  I am excited for this opportunity to be on the scholarship committee!

Chelsea Pike

I was born in Wyoming but grew up mostly in Montana where I had the privilege of working on a cattle ranch. I am a country girl at heart and although I’ve never been involved in 4-H, I believe it’s an extraordinary program in which not enough children get to experience. I’ve been back in Wyoming for 15 years and most all of my mother’s family lives in Wyoming. I’m a busy wife and a mother to 3 awesome children, ages 10, 2, and 5 months old. I enjoy playing softball and volleyball when I have the time. Most of all I love helping people!

Michelle Forster

Hello, I am a Casper native. I have lived in Casper my whole life and have never found a reason to leave! I grew up in the 4-H and FFA program. I was enrolled from age 8-21 yrs. I participated in many of the projects 4-H had to offer including cake decorating, vegetable judging, showing market beef and swine, and everything in between. I have some great memories from my 4-H days like 4-H camp, Denver Stock Show trips, as well as leadership training at the University Of Wyoming. I am a wife and mother of two amazing children ages 5 and 10. I strive to be an active part of 4-H so that my kids can grow up in the program and have some of the same amazing experiences I did. 4-H has helped shape me into the competitive Mom I am today. My wish is for everyone to have the same 4-H opportunities I did!

Caitlin Thormodsgard

I’m a true Wyoming girl. Born in Douglas and raised in Wheatland. After graduating high school I went to school in Sheridan for massage therapy. I graduated from there in the winter of 2005 and have been practicing massage ever since. My husband and I moved to Casper in spring of 2008 and were married that summer. We have 2 beautiful boys, 6 and almost 2, and we have another boy on the way, due in early December. As a child I participated in 4H for a small amount of time and now my oldest son is in 4H, the cloverbuds. I am really looking forward to being on this committee and working with the youth to further their swine education!

Jennifer Whitehead

I am originally from Washington state but have lived in Wyoming the last 22 years. It took a little while but I can definitely call it home now. I have worked for a non profit organization in town for the last five years, and have found my true passion in serving others. I grew up around horses and in the mountains and am a country girl at heart. My husband, my three beautiful girls and I have enjoyed 4H, the fair and rodeo from the outside and I am excited at the opportunity to be on this scholarship committee to help someone else fulfill their 4H dream.
