Riding Lessons

Our Riding Lesson season starts June 1st and goes through October weather depending.  We typically do lessons Saturday, Sunday, and Monday’s.  However please contact us as we try to work with everyone’s schedule.

Tot Lessons: Ages 2yrs-4yrs of age

Our tot lessons are in small groups of 3 with each little one having a riding coach.  At this stage we are exposing youngsters to being around horses, brushing, leading, and developing good riding posture.  A riding consultation will be required to assess how the child handles themselves around horses as well as their fear level ect.   Long pants, sunscreen, and closed toe shoes must be worn. (Boots are not necessary at this age) Helmets must be worn at all times and may be borrowed on a first come first serve basis.  Tot classes are a half hour once a week.  We strongly believe in developing great riding posture and balance.  We feel the best way to accomplish this is by learning early on to ride bareback. This allows the rider to feel at one with the horse and not develop bad habits or depend on the saddle horn and reins for balance.

Junior Lessons:  Ages 5yrs-12yrs of age

Our junior lessons are done in a small group environment.  At this stage we are exposing kids to being around  horses, brushing, leading, safety, and developing good riding posture.  Children in this age group will also learn how to follow the horse’s movements, move with the horse, and not interfere with the horse by sitting off balance or using the reins to balance oneself.  Neck and direct reining are taught as well as some leg cues. Trotting while keeping a well centered balance is a focus and must be achieved before moving into a canter.  Lessons are customized to the rider’s needs and ability.  Long pants, sunscreen, and closed toe shoes must be worn.  Helmets must be worn at all times and may be borrowed on a first come first serve basis.  Junior Lessons are either a half hour once a week or one hour every other week.  A riding consultation will be required to assess how the child handles themselves around horses, their fear level, ability, ect. We strongly believe in developing great riding posture and balance.  We feel the best way to accomplish this is by learning early on to ride bareback.
